RegCure Download

For this RegCure review I downloaded and installed RegCure v 1.5. It's a small 1.4 Megabyte executable installation file that should download fairly quickly depending on your connection.

Get the RegCure Download

The initial RegCure download is an evaluation version that allows you to scan your computer for registry problems. You must buy Regcure to fix any registry errors the evaluation version finds.

RegCure Installation

Clicking on the installation file will launch an installation wizard. There isn't anything unique or out of the ordinary about the wizard. It's much like you would use to install other applications.

The installation wizard says that 12.5 megabytes are needed to install Regcure even though it states that you need more on www regcure com. The default destination folder is in the Program Files directory or you can select a destination folder of your choice. I chose to use the default installation directory. A minor complaint that I have is that RegCure install wizard automatically installs a desktop shortcut and quick launch button without allowing you to change these options.

Overview of RegCure

RegCure launches in an 800x600 window. A start scan button is shown prominently in the lower right hand corner of the window and 5 navigation buttons are shown along the left side: Scan, Settings, Backup, Manage Startup, and Results. Let's go over each of these.

Screenshot 1: RegCure Scan

The Scan button allows you to select various items to be scanned. This offers great flexibility and can save you time if you have a general idea where the problem lies. For example, I found that the "Program Shortcuts" item takes the longest to scan. If you're not worried about these items you can deselect them to save time or you can select them all and do a very thorough scan of your registry.

Screenshot 2: RegCure Settings

Clicking on the RegCure Settings button will allow you to create a restore point before you try to fix any registry errors. This is a good idea in case your computer becomes unusable after fixing registry problems. There is a "Check for Updates" in case you need to update to a later version than RegCure v 1.5 or you can set the software to automatically download updates. Other highlights in the Settings section include the ability to create and manage an "Ignore List" for registry items that you don't want scanned. You can also use the scheduling feature to scan for registry errors on a regular basis so that Windows registry problems are minimized.

Screenshot 3: RegCure Backup

In this section of RegCure v 1.5 you can backup, manage and restore registry settings. As you can see by the screenshot, it is straight forward and simple to use.

Screenshot 4: RegCure Manage Startup

When you purchase RegCure you can choose which applications are launched when you start your computer. This is a handy feature that helps troubleshoot registry problems if you're experiencing a hang on startup.

Screenshot 5: RegCure Results

This shows a list of all the registry items that RegCure scans for. Next to each item the table shows whether there are registry errors and if they've been cleaned or ignored. At the bottom it shows a total number of errors found and a total number of registry errors cleaned. You can purchase RegCure after the scan and fix your registry errors.

Screenshot 6: RegCure Start Scan

A start scan button is displayed prominently in the lower right corner of the Scan section. When you click the button you can see a progress bar and other indicators as the free RegCure scan goes through all of the items you've selected. Each registry error that is found will be enumerated next to each category with a total displaying above all the categories. A red 'x' is displayed next to categories that contain errors. A green check mark is shown next to categories that don't have registry problems.

The scan I did on my computer found 1,234 problems that needed to be repaired. The initial scan that I made took a long time. Well over 4 minutes. A faster computer with fewer files would probably take considerably less time. The second time I ran the scan was much faster. Both scans were slow while scanning "Program Shortcuts".

Screenshot 7: Purchase RegCure

You can buy RegCure by clicking on the "Register" link in the upper right of the window. Clicking on "Get License Key" will begin the purchase process. Once you buy the license key for Regcure just enter it in the field and click the "Submit" button. Then you'll be able to fix your registry errors.

RegCure Reviews from Customers

"I bought it the other night and it did get rid of a shutdown error that's been on my nerves. I kind of get the impression that the 'problems' these types of programs detect can vary from major and annoying stuff to missing shortcuts and other minor stuff. Anyway to answer your question it seems to be ok."

Conclusion

RegCure is a full featured, high quality registry cleaner. It is very stable even while working on other tasks. I was using a word processor and GIMP while scanning Windows for registry errors without any glitches. It's easy to install and use. If you decide that you don't want it on your computer anymore it can be removed completely by using the Windows control panel or Start Menu shortcut without any trouble.
